The finds
Between Romanesque and Paleontological
Landscapes, castles, parish churches and abbeys seem to have been there forever, standing still in their beauty. Yet, season after season, geological eras and historical epochs, from the palaeontological to the Romanesque, shape the features of the lands on which our golden thread rests and which now welcome our steps.
The OroMonferrato Romanesque era
Parish churches and abbeys located in the lower Monferrato and Turin areas take us back to the Romanesque period of these places, boasting their millenary history in an intimate, simple and authentic voyage of discovery, just like the outlines marking the buildings in these centuries.
The Romanesque Church of Santi Nazario e Celso
The Romanesque Church of San Lorenzo
The Romanesque Church of San Nicolao
The Romanesque Church of Sant'Andrea di Casaglio
The OroMonferrato Paleontological era
And for some of our 49 municipalities, we go back even further in time. When the sea of hills that today mark our passage did not yet exist, and the land was submerged by the oceans. We have created nature reserves to safeguard the traces of this ancient geological past, an open-air museum and nature trails to re-discover a vanished sea.
